We’re excited to see new faces and welcome back familiar ones this spring.

The Bass is located in the quaint coastal village of Padanaram, Massachusetts, right on the Apponagansett Bay.People say that life slows down here. Yep. It’s a pretty charming place. And our sunsets are pretty great too.

Our menu is reflective of our environment, featuring the classic flavors of coastal New England, with influences from the local Portuguese and Italian communities, as well as a touch of the South from chef-owner Matt Rooney, a Rhode Island transplant from Virginia, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary Arts at JWU in Providence. He likes it here.

At The Bass we take a thoughtful approach to the farm-to-table movement, and prefer a “family business-to-fork” mentality. We choose to support small, family businesses whenever possible, being one ourselves. Our payroll is handled by a small family business in Somerset, MA. We source local ingredients from local food producers and vendors such as Guaranteed Fresh Produce in Hyannis and Thomsen Foodservice in East Providence. We also use small batch producers of wines and liquors such as Clambake Ripe Life Wines, Defiant Whisky, and Pacific Rum Bull Run Distillery.
